Catching Souls in a Wrath of Culture and Excellence

Category: Muzik

Pan n Ting

by soulbydapound

I want to introduce to you my culture. I am trinidadian and was raised on soca, caloyso and steel. Usually you can catch me at a Brooklyn backyard bashment acting the fool when some soca comes on. I also play tender which is a section in a steel band orchestra. Labor day is around the corner I haven’t played on Eastern Parkway in 4 years due to school. Since this is my first year back I decided to shake the dust off and get busy.

ESCAPE WITH A MIXTAPE!

by soulofmischief

I had to take it back to the originals with this one. Don’t get me wrong Mr. West is killing the net with his artsy, religious tracks, which are pretty dope in my opinion as its kicking like nothing else that’s out right now. From rocking Louie bags with porn in em to party crashing with Karl Lagerfeld….. Enjoy the mix here

THE LAZERS ARE COMING

by soulofmischief

A short video of the Major Lazer tour, the dudes are goin hammmm… Diplo and Skerrittbwoy provide these crowds with non-stop energy. I love the fact that essentially its dancehall music mixed with a bit of house that’s inserted to these crowds veins. Two of my favorite genre’s mixed together and it can’t get no better than that.

PAPER PLANES

by soulofmischief

The Hot Spitta drops another mixtape titled “Smokee Robinson” (nuff said). This mix is definitely worth the download and a great way to kick off the weekend. This time Spitta teamed up with Dj Don Cannon on this one, the beats are throwback and official. Download the mixtape HERE

Remebering Rick James

by soulofmischief

Born in BUFFALO on February 1st 1948 Rick James was one of the greatest musicians of his time. From his outlandish choices in style to his lewd behavior he was a unique spirit with a vast amount of talent. A great deal of people in this world are just misunderstood and Rick James would definitely fall within that category. His father  abandoned his family when he was a young boy, driving his mother to become a dancer in order to provide for her eight children. He was a great soul and will continually be missed. Check out some videos of the late great musician after the jump.

ESCAPE WITH A MIXTAPE

by soulofmischief

There’s not much I can say about this mixtape besides pure serenity. DJ Neil Armstrong slaps together a mix of oldies and funky tunes that just propel you and that significant other to your bed. Shoutouts to PipoMixes.

New Amerykah II

by soulbydapound

Probably one of the most spiritual artist in the game Ms. Erykah Badu discusses her new album and the meaning behind it. If you heard New Amerykah I which was definitely a banger in my opinion than this sequel should have you on your toes.
